Wednesday, July 22nd assignment

Good afternoon, all! This is our last day of class - tomorrow I will let you study - SO....I need you to write two final blogs. For the first, tell me how you study for a test. What strategies work best for you when trying to remember what you've learned. For the second, your can choose your own topic.

Thank you all for working hard in this class most days. I appreciate it. I hope you've learned something in class, and I hope you will continue using the Internet and your blog in ways that you enjoy and that make your life better.

Tuesday, July 21st assignment

It's a dreary, rainy day today, so we'll take it easy. Write a new post on your blog telling whether you like or dislike rainy days and why. Then go to the chat room for the remainder of class. You don't have to e-mail anything to me. I'm monitoring all your blogs.

Monday, July 20th assignment

Hey everyone. Hope you had a great weekend. This is our last week of class, so let's make it a productive one.

You all should have gotten an e-mail that allows you to register and comment on the www.thenewsstar.com web site. If so, please go to that site today and look for a story about a pending lunar eclipse. Read the story, comment and read others' comments. Then read any other story you want and comment on it as well.

If you are having problems registering, go to the website and read the story, then send your comments to me at lderiso@els.edu. You should then read a second story and repeat sending your comments to me.

Finally, write a blog today about your favorite: sport, book, movie, or TV show and post to your blog.

Thursday, July 16th assignment

Hello all. Last day of class for the week so write a blog on ANY topic you wish. Then go to www.thenewsstar.com . That's the website for the area newspaper. Find a story you like or don't like and post a comment. If you have time, join a discussion or forum through the newspaper's site. My husband runs the website, so I'll know if you went to it or not :)

Wednesday, July 15th's assignment

Hi, there. Mrs. Ann is here today so get your assignment and be nice. First, blog about the following: "Why I came to the US to study English". Second, go to your blog dashboard and click on the "blogs of note" tab. Choose 2 blogs from the list to review. Write a summary and review of each blog and send to my e-mail. These should be at least 2 to 3 paragraphs long. Third, go to englishclub.com. Before you enter the chat room on your right are some links to chatting rules and abbreviations. Study these if you don't know them already. You will have a quiz on Thursday.

Tuesday, July 14th's assignment

Good afternoon all. Today I want to you blog about this topic - "The Internet - a good or bad way to meet new friends." Also, I want you to add either some pictures or a gadget to your blog. Just click on your layout tab and go from there.

When you complete this assignment, go to Google or Yahoo and search for English learning websites. When you find a good one, send a link to the website to me and at least one friend through your e-mail. My address again is lderiso@els.edu.

Everyone has done a great job on your blogs. Remember, you can personalize these as much as you like so have fun. Also, while Internet English is different for formal or spoken English, you should still watch you spelling - even with slang and acronyms.
